⁸Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. ⁹Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: ¹⁰But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: ¹¹For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

God Gives us a Plan for working.

God gives us a specific plan for working, this is an indication that we have a responsibility to work. He also gives us a standard for rest. We are taught by this commandment to work for six days, and then to spend the seventh day for rest. The important part of this point is that we are expected to work.

God Gives us a Prescription for Weariness.

It's not that God needed rest on the seventh day, but instead that he was showing us by example that we need that day of rest. Weariness causes physical, spiritual, emotional, and psychological problems in our life. We cannot continue without rest.

God gives us a priority for Worship.

By setting aside one day for worship God established the primacy of worship. For us to remain Holy, we must spend time apart from the world worshipping our Lord.
